Today, we want to share with you a new international training experience with Sportello in Spalla!
This time, two young women from Tonara and Mamoiada traveled to the Czech Republic to experiment with different digital apps that could be used in the field of youth work. Let’s hear directly from their testimony about how the experience went.
Sofia: “Our experience in the Czech Republic began with a journey on February 8, 2025, which gave us the chance to make a short visit to Krakow. Although we only had a couple of hours, we were able to immerse ourselves in its rich history, exploring its fascinating monuments, museums, and landmarks. After wandering around the city for a while, we headed to the project site in Hrádek, Czech Republic, crossing the border from Poland.
Upon arrival, we had the opportunity to meet the other participants, who came from eight different countries: Romania, Greece, Malta, Spain, Hungary, Turkey, the Czech Republic, and another Italian organization. The first day was dedicated to getting to know each other through team-building games and ice-breakers, which helped facilitate interaction among participants. We also had the chance to explore the surroundings of our accommodation, which was located in the mountains near the Polish border, allowing us to stay in close contact with nature.
The main goal of the project was the implementation of digital tools. Throughout the course, we explored the use of platforms such as Canva, which is useful for creating presentations and cover pages, and makemynewspaper.com, which is used for designing informational newspapers. Despite being structured as a training course, the project also allowed us to engage in team-building activities with other organizations, exchanging cultures and knowledge.
In this regard, the multicultural evenings were particularly meaningful, giving us the chance to taste traditional dishes from different countries, dance to folk music, and immerse ourselves in the cultures of the participating nations. To combine the professional and personal aspects of the project, we also had discussion moments on specific topics, such as artificial intelligence and the use of digital tools, through interactive games and activities.”*
Veronica: “An intercultural journey is like a bridge connecting different worlds, allowing us to discover distant cultures and hidden sides of ourselves. Even though my experience in the Czech Republic was a training course with more formal activities, it still gave me the opportunity to immerse myself in a new reality and learn about the traditions and customs of different countries. This project allowed me to grow, expand my horizons, and meet wonderful people who will stay in my heart forever.”
Now back in Sardinia, the two young women are ready to share the skills they acquired with the local community and other youth workers. The idea is to integrate some of these apps into local projects, experimenting with digital solutions that can make youth activities even more effective and engaging.
Sportello in Spalla continues its journey, bringing new training and innovation opportunities to the youth of our region. What will the next destination be? Stay tuned to find out!
