Between the end of July and the beginning of August, four young people aged 15-17 and a group leader, coming from the Unione Comuni del Gerrei and the Consorzio Bim Taloro, traveled to the Czech Republic to participate in the youth exchange “Shards of Mosaic.”
Organized by our long-standing partner “Euroteam Czech Republic,” the project aimed to enhance the key skills of young participants, particularly linguistic, entrepreneurial, digital, and social skills, through various workshops and other non-formal education activities. We interviewed the participants upon their return, and here are their immediate impressions!
Eleonora: “It was a long journey for various obvious reasons, but it was still an unforgettable experience, especially useful for getting to know and learn more about other places and their traditions, as well as being helpful for communicating and making friends.”
Lorenzo: “It was a really amazing experience. Besides the beautiful place immersed in nature, the activities we carried out highly satisfied me, stimulating creativity and helping to develop and refresh some skills, like video editing or creating presentations. It was great to form a nice group of people who, despite big language barriers, managed to have fun and socialize.”
Francesco Sau: “The experience was recommended to me by those who already knew about these kinds of projects, but despite having many doubts at first, I decided to participate. I thought it might be almost boring, but it turned out to be super engaging! We learned a lot about the project theme through games and activities. The best part was meeting people from other countries, who taught me a lot about their customs and culture, and I made new friends. They were fantastic moments of unity and sharing, which I would recommend to everyone.”
Chiara: “At first, I was a bit scared of the idea of living with complete strangers, and I was quite worried about my level of English, which I thought wasn’t very good. However, as the days went by, I felt more and more confident, opening up to others and forming new and wonderful friendships.
Personally, I believe it’s a beautiful experience, especially at such a young age, because it seems to have helped me grow and open my mind, as well as feel much more confident in my English and my abilities.”
Giada: “The young people were exposed to a multicultural environment that allowed them to immerse themselves in a context full of activities. Among other things, with this project, they were able to imagine starting their own business, experience job interviews through role-playing games, and socialize with young people from six other countries. It was definitely a positive experience. As a group leader, following their work was definitely enjoyable and stimulating.”
